Block 1 – Boxing Skills (contact and non-contact options) 7 hours
Block 2 – Understanding nutrition and how to lead a healthy lifestyle 7 hours
Block 3 – How to positively support and improve your mental health and well-being 7 hours.
Who is this fully funded course for?
Anyone who is not in education or employment and falls between the ages of 16 and 19 years old.

Our excellent boxing and support coaches will welcome you into our family of learners @TheHub and in Fitzpatrick’s Boxing Gym, Swindon. In our friendly, motivated and highly positive learning environment, you will learn and develop alongside coaches who have been learners on our Boxing Clever courses previously before becoming leaders @TheHub. You will also benefit from the knowledge and teaching of our lead boxing & nutrition practitioner Paddy Fitzpatrick who, before starting @TheHub, was a successful boxing coach to world champions as well as a manager and promoter in the sport.
Our programme puts you and your development needs at the heart of the learning process. You will experience a blended learning approach @TheHub with: practical training sessions, intensive 1-to-1 coaching with our leaders, and the development of personal qualities such as confidence and resilience. All of this delivered with our special mix of: humility, respect – and, of course, a sense of humour!
Time commitment and structure of the course:
The 16+ boxing education course at our Fitzpatirick's Boxing Gym site will be delivered over 21 hours in total. The course comprises 3 modules of 7 hours each covering: boxing skills, nutrition and supporting mental health. These modules will be delivered in sessions lasting 1-2 hours with 7 hours of learning over an average week.
Over 3-4 weeks a learner will successfully complete the course. We can also manage the learning hours more flexibly and over a longer, or shorter period of time should participants request this option. It is our intention to run 3 groups of around 6-7 participants per group who will complete the course together over a period of 3-4 weeks.
What you will learn with us?
Boxing skills – contact and non-contact options
You will learn the fundamentals of successful boxing: stance, defence, attack and footwork (with more advance coaching where appropriate). You will learn how to exert control over your physical body and to harness your mental strength – developing both your self-confidence and personal motivation.
To understand nutrition and how to lead a healthy lifestyle
You will learn how to design, create and budget a healthy diet to support you in achieving your physical goals. You will also learn how to structure effective physical exercise so that you can continue to train once you have successfully completed the course. In addition to this, science has proven that a healthy lifestyle has a significant impact on improving our mental health and well-being.
How to positively support and improve your mental and physical well-being
You will learn how to become more self-reflective and understand what situations and experiences trigger your negative emotions. You will also learn techniques to allow you to both predict and prevent situations that might result in negative feelings, and to help address these feelings should they appear. Our positive thinking, “can do” environment will help you along the way.

You will have physical evidence of your progress recorded in writing throughout the programme. You will also be able to use our coaches as a valid reference to apply for future education and job opportunities.
Successfully completing this course will enhance your personal profile and how attractive you are to those offering further educations and training opportunities – or potential employers.
